LGBTQ+ RIGHTS
For decades, the LGBTQ+ community has fought for the rights they deserve. We have a moral obligation to make New York City a model of both inclusion and equality.
-
Commit to funding for programs that provide housing, training, job placement and professional development for LGBTQ+ youth. Approximately 40% of runaway and homeless youth in NYC are LGBTQ+: these people deserve better and as a city, we need to work to uplift them.
-
Repeal Penal Law 240.37, known as the #WalkingWhileTrans Ban. More than one in four trans people has faced a bias-driven assault, and rates are higher for trans women and trans people of color. We need to end the epidemic of violence against our trans neighbors.
-
Increase civil penalties and enforcement against those in violation of New York City’s Human Rights Law, which prohibits workplace, housing, and public accomodation discrimination.
-
Decriminalize sex work.
